Privacy Policy

Voidful Studios ("we", "us", or "our") built Voidful as a personal journaling app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled.

1. Your voids stay on your device

Voids you create are stored locally on your device by default. We do not access, read, or store your personal journal content on our servers unless you explicitly choose to share a void with someone else.

2. When data leaves your device

Data is transmitted off your device only in the following cases:

  • Sharing a void — When you send a void to another person, the content is encrypted and routed through a relay server. This data is ephemeral: it is not permanently stored and expires automatically once delivered or after a short period.
  • Receiving a void — Incoming shared voids pass through the same ephemeral relay. We do not retain a copy after delivery.
  • AI model downloads — On-device AI features require downloading model files from our servers. No personal data is sent during this process.
  • Push notifications — We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) to deliver notifications (e.g. when someone shares a void with you). This requires your device token to be registered with Firebase. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.

3. What we do not collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information
  • The content of your voids or journal entries
  • Location data beyond what you voluntarily attach to a void
  • Behavioural analytics or advertising identifiers

4. Ephemeral relay server

Shared voids are transmitted through an encrypted relay. The relay holds content temporarily and deletes it automatically. We cannot read the content of relayed voids, and we do not retain logs of what was shared or with whom beyond what is technically necessary for delivery.

5. AI models

AI features in Voidful run entirely on your device. Model files are downloaded from our servers but all inference happens locally — your journal content is never sent to us or any third party for AI processing.

6. Data retention

Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Relay data is deleted automatically upon expiry. Your voids exist only on your device unless you choose to share them.

7. Children

Voidful is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at voidful.app/privacy with a revised date.
